Answering a TTY call

The TTY call appears as a regular telephone call on the work list window. Therefore, the incoming call alert displays the voice call icon. However, Avaya one-X Agent recognizes the call as TTY call from the call signal and displays an Initiate TTY button in the work list window. A blank TTY window also opens with the incoming call. You can set other options for presentation of the TTY window. Refer to TTY panel field descriptions.

  1. Click the Initiate TTY button on the work list window.

The application accepts the TTY call and focus shifts to the TTY window.

  2. Begin typing your messages at the green prompt on the TTY window. Make sure that you end your message string with the abbreviation GA.

This indicate the TTY caller to start typing the message.

    TipTip

TTY users can interrupt before the GA. But, this is considered as a breach of the TTY user protocols, and therefore not a good practise.

    NoteNote

You can put a TTY call on hold as you do for a telephony call. However, to end the call, you must click the End TTY button.
